New Patients

New Patients at BDS Dental, Golders Green

We welcome new patients from Golders Green, Hampstead, Hampstead Garden Suburb, and across NW11 and North London. Whether you are returning to dentistry after a break, looking for a higher standard of private care, or simply new to the area, we look forward to welcoming you to our practice on Finchley Road.

BDS Dental is a fully private practice. We do not hold an NHS contract, which means every appointment is allocated the time it genuinely needs, treatment options are chosen on clinical merit, and the care you receive is never constrained by a commissioned budget.

Your First Appointment

We ask all new patients to book an initial consultation before any treatment begins. This appointment is an opportunity for us to carry out a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums, and mouth; to understand your dental history and any concerns you may have; and to discuss what you would like to achieve. There is no pressure to commit to any treatment on the day.

Your dentist will take time to listen before examining. We are interested in understanding your experience of dentistry as much as the clinical picture — what has worked for you in the past, what has not, and what matters most to you going forward.

Following your assessment, we will provide a clear, written treatment plan that sets out any clinical recommendations along with a full breakdown of costs. You can take this away and consider it at your own pace.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

To make the most of your initial visit, it helps to bring:

  • Details of any current medications, including over-the-counter medicines and supplements
  • Information about any relevant medical conditions or allergies
  • Details of your previous dental practice, if you would like us to request records
  • A list of any specific concerns or questions you would like to discuss

If you have recent dental X-rays from a previous practice, we may be able to use these rather than taking new ones — please let our reception team know when you book.

If You Are Nervous About Dentistry

Dental anxiety is common, and it is something we take seriously. Many of our patients came to us having avoided dentistry for years — some for a very long time. We do not judge and we do not rush. If you are anxious, please tell us when you book your appointment so that we can ensure you are given additional time and that your dentist is prepared to work at a pace that suits you.

Local anaesthetic is always available, and we will never proceed with treatment until you are comfortable and ready. Our aim is to make each visit a better experience than the last.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take on NHS patients?

No. BDS Dental is a fully private practice and does not hold an NHS contract. All treatments are provided on a private fee basis. Our fee list is available on our website, and a full cost breakdown will always be provided in writing before any treatment begins.

How long will my first appointment take?

New patient consultations are typically allocated 45 to 60 minutes. This gives your dentist time to carry out a thorough assessment and have a proper conversation with you — not just a cursory examination. If you have specific concerns that may require more time, please mention this when you book.

Do I need to complete any forms before I arrive?

Yes. We will send you a medical history form to complete before your first appointment. This covers your general health, current medications, and any allergies or conditions relevant to dental treatment. Completing this in advance means your dentist can review it before the appointment and be well prepared for your visit.

Can I bring a family member or friend?

Of course. You are welcome to bring someone with you, whether for support or simply for company. If you are accompanying a child or an adult who may need assistance, please let us know in advance so we can make any necessary arrangements.

How soon can I be seen?

Availability varies, but we do our best to offer new patient appointments promptly. Please contact our reception team and we will find the earliest convenient time. If you have an urgent concern, please mention this when you call and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What happens if I need a specialist?

In many cases, specialist services are available within the practice. Our orthodontist Dr. Farnaz Motamedi sees patients here for Invisalign and fixed brace treatment. We also have an oral surgeon on site for implant placements and more complex extractions. Where onward referral is needed, we will always recommend appropriately qualified practitioners and keep you fully informed throughout.
